🏛️ Coming up at City Hall: Redlands could prohibit the construction of new warehouses larger than 50,000 square feet, while allowing existing warehouses to expand, subject to Planning Commission approval. DEVELOPMENT
🏥 The first phase of Kaiser Permanente’s Redlands medical campus was approved by the Planning Commission Tuesday. The approved plans call for a 113,000-square-foot, three-story medical office building and ambulatory surgery center at Kaiser’s existing property at 1301 California St. The facility will include urgent care, outpatient surgery and chemotherapy services, with construction expected to begin early next year. 🏗️ What’s happening at the Redlands Mall? Asbestos abatement and structural work are underway inside the remaining mall building as crews prepare it for demolition. But city officials say there’s still no firm timeline for when the building will come down, and no revised redevelopment plans have been submitted. Read more here:

🚧 More roadwork is coming to several busy Redlands intersections. Caltrans is continuing work on its $10.4 million pavement and safety project along Lugonia Avenue and surrounding streets, with curb ramp construction, drainage improvements and concrete work planned over the next few weeks. PUBLIC SAFETY
🔥 No injuries were reported after a fire broke out inside an attached garage at a Redlands home on Aug. 21. The Redlands Fire Department responded shortly before 6:30 p.m. to the 1600 block of Bellevue Road, where crews found a fire burning in a shop area inside the garage behind a single-story home. Damage was estimated at approximately $125,000. Read more here:

🚨 A 1-year-old child was hospitalized after falling into a pool at a Redlands hotel Saturday. Family members were performing CPR when emergency crews arrived, but the child was alert and later reported in stable condition with no indication of major injuries. Also in this week’s police update: a teenage girl was injured in a scooter collision, a restaurant patron was robbed of his necklace, burglars targeted a downtown pharmacy and police made two DUI arrests. COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT
🎬 Four international films are coming to the big screen in Redlands this fall.
The Redlands Cinema Classic returns Sept. 2 with films that take audiences from 18th-century Venice and modern-day Beirut to the Amazon rainforest and the world of Japanese Kabuki.
The monthlong festival also includes two screenings of the Manhattan Short Film Festival, where Redlands moviegoers can join audiences around the world in voting for their favorite films and performances.
