🚧 More roadwork is ahead in Redlands. Caltrans will continue work on its $10.4 million State Route 38 pavement and safety project Aug. 17-28, with temporary lane, sidewalk and shoulder closures expected.
Crews will be working on curb ramps and driveways along Pearl Avenue between Eureka and North Sixth streets, while improvements continue throughout the project area. Drivers should expect delays, detours and reduced speed limits in construction zones. Read more about the project and upcoming traffic impacts:

PUBLIC SAFETY
🚒 Firefighters responded to a fire on Aug. 10 that heavily damaged a backyard shed at a Redlands home on Arlene Street. The fire was contained within six minutes of crews arriving. No injuries were reported. Read more here.
🚓 Masked suspects rob GameStop: Redlands police are investigating a strong-arm robbery at the GameStop in Citrus Plaza after masked suspects stole merchandise and a cash register drawer. Investigators believe the robbery may be connected to a similar incident in San Bernardino. This week's police update also includes the theft of approximately $100,000 in electrical wiring and copper pipes, a series of vehicle burglaries in south Redlands and a fatal fall near a ravine. 📚 Redlands Unified trustees are weighing whether school library collections should provide opposing viewpoints on political or controversial topics. After questions about who would determine whether a book leans left or right, the board narrowed the proposal to focus on books about U.S. presidents. Read more here:

🍸 Redlands Cocktail Competition returns Aug. 20: Three veterans of the Los Angeles cocktail scene will put Redlands’ best drinks to the test, judging creations from 12 local bars and restaurants. ⚾ Redlands police and firefighters will face off on the softball field Aug. 29 during Redlands Family Fun Day at Coyazo Park. The free community event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will also feature live music, a kids' zone, local vendors and free Habit Burger meals for the first 200 attendees. Proceeds from fundraising activities will support local police and fire organizations and Redlands Sunrise Rotary Club programs. Read more here:
