Masked suspects rob Redlands GameStop; police investigate possible link to San Bernardino case

REDLANDS, Calif. — Redlands Police are investigating a strong-arm robbery at the GameStop in Citrus Plaza after several masked suspects stole merchandise and a cash register drawer Monday night.

Police said the suspects, who were wearing masks and gloves, entered the store Aug. 10 and demanded that an employee open a back-office door. When the employee refused, the suspects began ripping items from the walls, took a cash register drawer and fled.

Investigators later located an unoccupied suspect vehicle at an apartment complex in Hesperia.

Police believe the robbery may be connected to a similar incident at a GameStop in San Bernardino. The investigation is ongoing.

$100,000 in wiring, copper pipes stolen

Police are investigating the theft of approximately $100,000 worth of electrical wiring and copper pipes from a business at 800 Tri-City Center Drive.

The theft occurred sometime between July 31 and Aug. 5 and was reported through the Redlands 311 app.

No additional information about possible suspects was provided.

Vehicle burglaries reported in south Redlands

Detectives are investigating a series of vehicle burglaries reported in south Redlands neighborhoods overnight Monday into Tuesday morning.

Police said vehicle windows were smashed and property was stolen from inside, including purses and credit cards.

The investigation is ongoing.

Woman found dead after search

A 68-year-old woman was found dead Saturday after she left her home for a walk and did not return, according to police.

Officers launched an extensive search Aug. 8 that included personnel on the ground and assistance from a San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department helicopter.

The woman was found several hours later in an exposed area near a ravine, where police said it appeared she had fallen.

Police said there were no signs of foul play.

Two injured after driver crashes into parked cars, police say

Two people were injured after a vehicle traveling at high speed crashed into several parked cars in the 1000 block of Columbia Street Saturday night, according to police.

Police said the male driver and female passenger fled on foot after the collision but were later located in the 800 block of Calhoun Street.

The passenger was treated by paramedics for facial injuries and taken to a hospital. The driver was arrested on suspicion of hit-and-run but was later released to receive medical treatment for injuries he sustained, police said.

The case was forwarded to the San Bernardino County District Attorney's Office for review and possible prosecution.

Drugs found after traffic stop involving stolen vehicle

Police said heroin, methamphetamine and fentanyl were discovered inside a stolen vehicle following a traffic stop Aug. 6 in the 1600 block of West Redlands Boulevard.

The driver and passenger quickly got out of the vehicle and locked the keys inside, according to police. Both were arrested on outstanding warrants.

The vehicle's registered owner declined to pursue theft charges but was unable to retrieve the vehicle, so it was towed. Police said the drugs were discovered after the tow company opened the vehicle.

The driver, who police said had previous drug possession convictions, faced an additional charge. The passenger was taken to a hospital after reporting that he had swallowed narcotics.

DUI arrest after early-morning crash

A man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after his vehicle struck a center median at California Street and Orange Tree Lane shortly after 3 a.m. Thursday, police said.

The collision disabled the vehicle.

In a separate incident Aug. 6, police arrested a woman on suspicion of being under the influence of methamphetamine after she was reported standing in the driveway of a business and blocking vehicles from entering its parking lot.
