☀️ An Extreme Heat Warning remains in effect through Sunday, with temperatures expected to reach up to 108 degrees across the Inland Empire this weekend. An air quality alert is also in effect due to harmful levels of ozone pollution.

🍊 City Council unanimously approved the formation of the Redlands Housing Corporation, a nonprofit that could eventually acquire and operate the permanent supportive housing property at the former Good Nite Inn. The corporation's responsibilities will include owning and operating real property that expands housing opportunities in Redlands. This comes after the for-profit developer, Shangri-La LLC, faced foreclosure amid allegations of fraud. Read more here:

🚧 City Council approved a $5.5 million construction contract to widen California Street near Redlands Boulevard. The project is designed to improve traffic flow, pedestrian access and flood infrastructure south of Interstate 10. Read more here:

Man killed by Arrow train in Redlands: An unidentified man died Sunday night after being struck by an Arrow passenger train near Texas Street in what Redlands police are investigating as a probable suicide. No passengers or crew members were injured. Read more here:

🚒 Green Fire grows to 55 acres; three firefighters injured: The Green Fire burning northeast of Yucaipa reached 55 acres and was 25% contained as of Wednesday evening, according to Cal Fire. The wildfire prompted a large multi-agency response in steep terrain near Highway 38, where three firefighters were injured while battling the blaze. Read more here:

🔥 Two new wildfire cameras now online in Redlands
Redlands has activated two new ALERTCalifornia wildfire monitoring cameras covering the city's northern edge and the Santa Ana River wash, expanding real-time fire detection and situational awareness for emergency responders. The cameras complement two existing ALERTCalifornia cameras in south Redlands and are part of the city's broader wildfire preparedness efforts. 💻 Redlands Unified is looking to prepare students for a future with AI by developing a district-wide approach centered around navigating the technology safely. Deputy Superintendent and Chief AI Officer Jason Hill delivered a presentation to the school board July 21, which included a grade-level breakdown outlining how and when to bring AI into classrooms. 🍹 Local bartenders will put their creativity on display next month as the Redlands Chamber of Commerce hosts its annual Cocktail Competition. Guests ages 21 and older will have the opportunity to sample cocktails and mocktails from participating Redlands restaurants and bars before casting their votes for their favorites.
