LOMA LINDA, Calif. — A Highland man was arrested on suspicion of arson after investigators said video captured by a witness's Tesla helped identify a suspect in an Aug. 10 fire that spread to an occupied building in Loma Linda.

The fire was reported about 10:20 a.m. in the 25000 block of Redlands Boulevard, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.

Witnesses reported seeing a man running from a plot of land shortly before vegetation and several palm trees caught fire, authorities said. The flames then began spreading to a building occupied by customers and employees.

The Loma Linda Fire Department responded and contained the fire. No injuries were reported in the Sheriff's Department's announcement.

Investigators reviewed video recorded by a witness's Tesla, which authorities said provided a description of the suspect and his direction of travel.

Deputies located and detained Sergio Granados, 40, of Highland near the scene, according to the Sheriff's Department.

Deputies from the Central Station and investigators with the Sheriff's Department Arson/Bomb Detail investigated the cause of the fire. Granados was subsequently arrested on suspicion of felony arson of an inhabited structure.
