Athletes from Redlands East Valley, Beaumont High, Redlands High and Yucaipa High were selected as members of the 2026 all-Inland Empire Track and Field teams for 2026.

The boys named to the all-IE first team were teammates Daryl Williams and Kai Johnston of Beaumont High who both qualified for the CIF State Championship. Named to the all-IE second team was Elijah Medina of Redlands East Valley.

Emmalyne Dowdy of Yucaipa High was selected for the girls track and field first team in her specialty, the discus throw. Carmen Robles, a shotput and discus specialist from Redlands High, was selected to the girls’ all-IE second team.

ELIJAH MEDINA – Redlands East Valley sophomore – Medina had a breakout track and field season in 2026, setting personal records from 800 meters to 3200 meters while competing at the highest levels of state track and field.

The 2026 Citrus Belt League champion in the 1600 meters and CBL runner-up in the 3200, Medina posted personal bests at 800 meters (1:56.83), 1600 meters (4:10.25), and 3200 meters (9:07.56) during the season. He finished third in the CIF Southern Section Division 2 1600 in 4:12.22 and fifth in the CIFSS Division 2 3200 meters in 9:16.52 after taking first in the prelims at 9:11.83.

His 4:10.25 time at the section Masters was good enough for seventh place and a berth in the CIF State Championship where he ran 4:13.86 in the prelims but was 20th and did not make the final.

Medina just competed in the Nike Outdoor Nationals this past weekend, finishing 30th in the "emerging elite" 1600 meters in 4:15.52. In the fall, Medina will try to defend his CBL title in the 3-mile run at the CBL cross country championship.

CARMEN ROBLES – Redlands High School sophomore – Robles, the heir apparent to the record-setting career of Su’Riah Williams among Terriers shot put and discus competitors, won the 2026 CBL shot put title with a throw of 36 feet, 7.25 inches and placed second in the CBL discus at 101 feet, 9 inches.

Robles then set a personal best of 39 feet, 7 inches, good for third place in the CIF Southern Section Division 2 finals. Her discus throw of 115 feet, 11 inches was good for sixth place at the Division 2 finals.

At the Masters meet a week later, she tossed the discus a personal best 122 feet, 11 inches to place ninth. Robles fouled in the Masters shot put and did not place.

EMMALYNE DOWDY – Yucaipa High School senior – Dowdy won the CBL title in the discus at 115 feet, 8 inches and finished third in the shot put at 32 feet, a half inch.

She finished sixth at the CIF Southern Section Division 1 discus at 121 feet, 10 inches and sixth again at the Masters meet and state qualifier at 127 feet, 10 inches.

But it was her personal best of 132 feet, 3 inches that occurred at the Mt. SAC Relays earlier in the season that enabled her to qualify for the state championship in Clovis. She failed to advance out of the state preliminaries with a best mark there of 107 feet, 7 inches.

Her personal best in the shot put was 34 feet, 2 inches, set at the Beaumont HS Cougar Classic.

KAI JOHNSTON – Beaumont High School senior – Johnston won the CBL championship in the 100 meters at 10.95 and also took the league title in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles, timed in 38.28. He was also on the Cougars' 4x100 relay team that won the CBL title in 41.67.

Johnston went on to finish third in the CIF Southern Section Division 1 finals in the 300-meter hurdles, timed in 37.47. At the Masters meet Johnston improved his personal best to 37.53 to finish fourth in the event and qualify for the state championship.

Johnston narrowly missed qualifying for the state finals, finishing 10th in the prelims in 37.85, two-tenths of a second behind the ninth-fastest runner.

DARYL WILLIAMS – Beaumont High School senior – At this year's CBL championship, Williams captured the 200 meters (21.30) and the 400 meters (47.94) and ran a leg on the winning 4x100-meter relay in 41.67 as well as the 4x400-meter relay, timed in 3:24.78 for the victory.

Williams took third in the CIF Southern Section Division 1 finals in 21.25 after setting his personal best of 21.12 in the prelims. He placed fourth in the 400 meters in a personal best of 47.75.

At the Masters meet, Williams took seventh in the 400 meters in 47.96 and 12th in the 200 meters in 21.23, advancing to the state championship in both events based on time.

His season ended in the prelims at Clovis, finishing 22nd in the 200 meters in 21.53 and also 22nd in the 400 meters in 48.72.
