REDLANDS, Calif. — A Redlands police officer performed CPR on a 2-year-old child who was not breathing after being pulled from a swimming pool during a birthday party Saturday evening, according to the Redlands Police Department.
Police said the officer successfully resuscitated the child. Redlands Fire Department paramedics subsequently treated the child, who was taken by ambulance to a hospital. Police did not provide information about the child’s condition after hospitalization.
While the officer was performing CPR, people attending the party began fighting, prompting additional officers to respond to calm and disperse the crowd, according to police.
Police said one person got into a vehicle and quickly drove away before making a U-turn and driving back toward family members and officers. The driver then turned around and left the area.
Police are investigating after several shots were fired at a person near Delaware Avenue and Clay Street late Wednesday night.
Officers responded shortly after 11 p.m. Aug. 5 after a vehicle was reportedly seen circling the area before an occupant fired several shots at the victim and drove away. No injuries were reported.
A witness provided police with a description and license plate number of the vehicle. Investigators later found the vehicle unoccupied in the Crafton Hills College parking lot.
Police searched the campus but did not find any suspects. The vehicle was towed as evidence, and the investigation remains ongoing.
A man was arrested after police said he brandished a handgun following a collision on San Bernardino Avenue at Citrus Plaza Drive on Tuesday night.
After the Aug. 4 collision, both drivers pulled over and waited for police to arrive. Police said the suspect apparently believed the other driver was preparing to leave the scene and pulled out a handgun, pointing it toward the other driver.
Police are investigating a robbery and assault stemming from an apparent road rage incident near Citrus Plaza on Monday evening.
Police said a vehicle cut off the victim before the suspect approached the victim's vehicle, opened the driver's door and punched the woman in the face.
The suspect then grabbed the woman's cellphone and threw it across the street, damaging it, before driving away, according to police.
A man was arrested on suspicion of DUI and child endangerment following a collision at the AMPM station at 539 E. Redlands Blvd. late Sunday morning.
Police said the other vehicle left without damage while the man remained at the scene. A Redlands Police Department first responder drone arrived overhead and observed the driver before he drove away with a gas nozzle still attached to his vehicle, damaging the nozzle.
Officers contacted the driver across the street from the gas station and found a 3-year-old child in the back seat, according to police.
A woman was arrested on suspicion of DUI after police found her passed out behind the wheel of a car in the roadway at University Street and Brockton Avenue at about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday.
In a separate incident, a driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI after hitting a parked vehicle, driving over curbs and striking palm trees near Monterey Street and West Highland Avenue late Saturday night, police said.
Police said the driver continued swerving between lanes on Highland Avenue before officers pulled her over.
A man was arrested after allegedly brandishing a firearm during a road rage incident in a shopping center parking lot in the 1500 block of Barton Road on Friday night.
Police later located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. The driver was identified by the victim, and officers found a semi-automatic handgun in the vehicle, which was taken as evidence.
