Where to celebrate the Fourth of July in and around Redlands
From Redlands' longtime traditions to fireworks and community festivals, here's where to celebrate Independence Day this weekend.
Redlands enters the critical final stretch of the season
Redlands FC enter the final month of the regular season Thursday night against Capo FC. It is another must-win match for Redlands, as they look to continue to stay on pace for a playoff spot and a possible Southwest Division title.
Capo FC comes into the match 3-3-2, good for 11 points and 5th in the Southwest Division table. Their previous match against the Southern California Eagles was postponed, so they will be on increased rest entering Dodge Stadium.
The first match between these two sides in 2026 was a wild one. After surrendering 3 goals in the first half hour of play, Redlands stormed back for 4 unanswered in route to a win. Capo has secured just one victory since that match nearly a month ago.
In terms of what is at stake for the visitors, Capo does not have much of a realistic path to the playoffs. But a win Thursday would help keep them mathematically alive for a bit longer.
Including Thursday night’s clash, Redlands have just 3 games remaining on the schedule. Two of them are at Dodge Stadium, while they will take a trip to City SC in between for their final away game.
After last weekend’s draw against Stars FC, Redlands still control their playoff and division title destiny. But there is less margin for error. A loss on Thursday would open the door wide open for Stars, who play FC Tucson on July 3rd and July 6th, to move up to 2nd place.
But, if Redlands are able to execute and earn all 3 points against Capo, the final home match of the season on July 11th could be a de facto championship game in the Southwest Division. That is, of course, assuming the first place Ventura County Fusion takes care of business up to that point as well.
A UCLA Bruin, Philip Naef joined Redlands FC midway through the season. He has made an instant impact, and #7 on the pitch is certainly worth watching.
Naef is also the latest internationally born player to wear the Redlands jersey, hailing from Copenhagen, Denmark.
Kickoff for Thursday night’s match is set for 7 pm. Depending on the Fusion’s result against Tucson earlier in the week, RFC could come into the night playing for sole possession of first place.
