Redlands Police Department conducts extensive search with K9 units, lifting lockdown after finding no evidence of reported weapon on campus
REDLANDS, Calif. – A false alarm at Moore Middle School in Redlands prompted a campus-wide lockdown Thursday afternoon after reports of a student possessing a weapon.
The Redlands Police Department conducted a thorough search of the school on Aug. 22, utilizing four K9 units trained in weapons detection, police said in a post on its School Safety Updates announcement board.
No weapon was found, and none of the dogs were alerted to indicate the presence of a weapon.
RPD officers worked in cooperation with school administration and district safety officers. As a precautionary measure, the Redlands Fire Department was also present at the school during the incident.
RPD officers visited every classroom after completing the search to speak with students. No one was found who claimed to have seen a weapon on campus, according to police.
The lockdown was lifted following the all-clear from law enforcement.
"RPD takes all threats of violence on campus seriously," the department stated in a post online. They encouraged the public to stay informed about campus safety issues through their School Safety Updates web page.
No injuries were reported during the lockdown or subsequent search.
