REDLANDS, Calif. — Disney's Frozen, one of the most popular animated musicals of the past decade, will take center stage this summer as part of the Redlands Bowl's 103rd Summer Music Festival.
The free concert series runs June 19 through Aug. 14 and features a lineup of nationally touring artists, local ensembles and large-scale productions spanning Broadway, bluegrass, jazz, classical music and dance.
Among the highlights are performances by bluegrass trio The Appalachian Road Show, vocal group The Filharmonics, and the Glenn Miller Orchestra.
The annual Fourth of July season centerpiece, titled "A Star-Spangled Evening of Patriotic Pops," is scheduled for July 3. The concert will feature the Redlands Bowl Festival Orchestra and Inland Master Chorale and will include the debut of a commissioned work celebrating the legacy of Abraham Lincoln and Redlands' Lincoln Memorial Shrine.
One of the season's marquee events will be Disney's Frozen, presented July 23-26 following a public dress rehearsal July 21.
Based on the Academy Award-winning animated film, the stage musical tells the story of sisters Anna and Elsa and features beloved songs including "Let It Go," along with new music written for the Broadway production.
The Redlands Bowl production will feature local and regional performers and is expected to draw large family audiences. The musical has become one of the most successful stage adaptations of a Disney film since its Broadway debut in 2018.
The festival concludes Aug. 14 with the traditional Fireworks Finale featuring the Redlands Symphony Orchestra. Internationally acclaimed violinist Miclen LaiPang, a former Redlands Bowl Young Artist winner, will perform Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto before the evening ends with a fireworks display.
Concerts are typically held on Tuesday and Friday evenings at the outdoor amphitheater in downtown Redlands.
