Redlands police highlight bicycle safety during National Bicycle Safety Month
Campaign urges drivers and bicyclists to share the road and prevent crashes during National Bicycle Safety Month
Cajon clinches its first Citrus Belt League baseball title since 2015, while Yucaipa’s nine-game winning streak lifts the Thunderbirds into second place.
Cajon High School of San Bernardino won its first Citrus Belt League baseball title since 2015 with a 9-0 shutout of Citrus Valley on the final day of the regular season.
Meanwhile, Yucaipa High School won its last nine games in a row, capped by a 14-4 victory over Redlands High to take second place. CVHS dropped to third place.
Final CBL standings: 1. Cajon - 12-3 (19-9); 2. Yucaipa - 11-4 (17-10); 3. Citrus Valley - 10-5 (12-14); 4. Redlands East Valley - 5-10 (12-15); 5. Beaumont - 4-11 (12-15); 6. Redlands - 3-12 (12-15).
The top three finishers are likely to make the CIF Southern Section playoffs. The participants in the various brackets will be announced on Monday, May 11. Divisions 2 through 7 will begin play May 14, while Division 1 teams begin pool play on May 12.
CAJON 9, CITRUS VALLEY 0
Senior pitcher Gavin Garcia pitched a three-hit shutout over 6.2 innings and produced a double with two runs batted in and scored twice himself to lead the Cowboys to its title-clinching victory over the Blackhawks.
The victory was the 194th for Cajon head coach Robert Grande dating to the 2013-14 season, when he replaced current CVHS coach Jon Austin, who moved over to Citrus Valley. Austin’s record at Cajon was 175-161, mostly in the San Andreas League.
Cajon’s win also produced the second CBL title with Grande as the coach. The first was in 2015 when the Cowboys posted a 23-5 record, 12-2 in the CBL.
Hugo Sanchez helped the Cajon cause with two hits, including a home run and four runs batted in. Donovan Lichti and Anthony Alcantar contributed RBI-producing base hits. Zachary Fraijo replaced Garcia on the mound in the seventh and struck out the hitter to end the game.
Citrus Valley’s Nathan Reyes collected two of the three hits off Garcia, including a double. Nathan Stamper had the other Blackhawks hit. Pitcher Jacob Caldera yielded seven runs, five earned, on six hits in 2.2 innings to take the loss.
YUCAIPA 14, REDLANDS 4
The Thunderbirds won their last nine games in a row, sweeping past Beaumont, Redlands East Valley and Redlands to finish second in the CBL.
Yucaipa scored eight times in the first two innings and added four more in the seventh to conclude its three-game sweep of RHS. The T-Birds banged out 16 hits, led by Landon Von Kaenel, who was 3-for-5 with three doubles, four RBI and two runs scored. Zach Scribner also drove in four runs with two hits, including a home run. Enrique Estrada had two hits, including a triple, and added two RBI. Jason Franco had three hits, scored twice and drove in a run. Damian Cordero drove in a run and scored twice.
The T-Birds used four pitchers, with Jake White and Logan Altenhof sharing pitching duties through five innings and allowing all four Redlands runs.
Diego Uribe led the Redlands offense with three hits, scored a run and drove in a run. Eyan Eldevik drove in a run with a hit. Caleb Ellis drove in a run while hitting into a fielder’s choice. Three RHS pitchers produced 158 pitches in the game.
Redlands closed out the 2026 season on a 10-game losing streak.
REDLANDS EAST VALLEY 7, BEAUMONT 0
Senior Caleb Jamroz and freshman Caleb Davis combined for a two-hit shutout of the Cougars to finish fourth in the CBL a year after they won the league title with a 13-2 record. Jamroz allowed only the two hits in 3.2 innings, while Davis pitched 3.1 innings of hitless ball with no walks and two strikeouts.
Five different Wildcats drove in runs in the victory. Nick Story was 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Brayden Juarez was 1-for-3 with a triple and an RBI. Gio Palos had one hit and an RBI. Cole Fisher and Aiden Torres also were credited with an RBI each.
Jamroz won his sixth game of the season with 72 strikeouts in 66 innings on the mound.
For Beaumont, Alex Ojeda and Alijah Jaramillo had the Cougars’ only hits of the game. Pitcher Alex Diaz gave up six runs on four hits with six strikeouts and two walks in 3.1 innings on the mound to take the loss.
The Cougars won only two of their final 13 CBL games.
