REDLANDS, Calif. — A two-day festival celebrating ceramics, creativity and community will take place May 2–3 at the historic Asistencia in Redlands.
The Art in Clay Festival, hosted by the Redlands Pottery Community Project, is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days at 26930 Barton Road. Admission is free.
Organizers say the event is designed to bring together ceramic artists, educators, students, collectors and community members from across the Inland Empire and Southern California. The festival aims to serve as an annual hub for the region’s ceramic arts community.
The weekend will feature a curated ceramics market with original works from regional artists, along with live demonstrations and hands-on workshops for attendees of all ages and experience levels.
Scheduled activities include demonstrations by ceramic artists Sam Lopez, Kristy Moreno and Sean Regalado, as well as workshops such as figure sculpting, clay whistle making with Amy Nottingham and metal clay jewelry making led by Kathy Jo Ferreira. Participants can also take part in sculpting a kiln god and other interactive clay activities offered throughout the event.
In addition to art programming, the festival will include food trucks, coffee, ice cream and a beer garden hosted by the Citrograph Foundation.
The Redlands Pottery Community Project, a local nonprofit, organizes the festival as part of its mission to expand access to ceramics education. The organization provides free or reduced-cost pottery programs, including handbuilding and wheel-throwing classes, particularly for those who may not have access to traditional studio spaces.
The event is sponsored by Laguna Clay Company and Citrograph Printing Company.
