Cajon wins CBL baseball title; Yucaipa passes Citrus Valley for second place
Cajon clinches its first Citrus Belt League baseball title since 2015, while Yucaipa’s nine-game winning streak lifts the Thunderbirds into second place.
Weekly police update also includes a bus threat arrest, two DUI cases and a CPR save by first responders.
REDLANDS, Calif. – Three people were arrested on drug-related charges and possession of stolen property after Redlands police investigating the theft of a golf cart found methamphetamine and the stolen vehicle at a Webster Street home, according to the Redlands Police Department’s weekly update for April 23-30.
Police said the case began Wednesday afternoon, April 29, when an employee working on construction of the new Carmax dealership at 1125 New York St. reported that a suspect had stolen a golf cart from the site. Officers located a man matching the suspect description, and police said he directed them to a home in the 1100 block of Webster Street.
At the home, officers found the stolen golf cart along with what police described as a large quantity of methamphetamine. Two people at the home were arrested, along with the initial suspect, police said.
Redlands police assisted in a medical emergency in the 1800 block of West Redlands Boulevard on Tuesday, April 28, where an officer took over CPR from a business employee after finding a woman blue and unresponsive. Redlands Fire Department paramedics arrived shortly afterward and continued CPR. Police said the woman regained a pulse and began breathing on her own before she was taken to a hospital.
Police arrested a 15-year-old boy Monday afternoon, April 27, after a passenger on an OmniTrans bus reported overhearing him threaten to shoot another passenger. According to police, the bus driver stopped the bus and alerted authorities from a nearby business. Officers reviewed live video from inside the bus, removed passengers and arrested the teen after he got off the bus. No firearm was found, police said.
Also Monday, officers arrested two people after locating a stolen vehicle in the parking lot of Home Depot at 1151 W. Lugonia Ave., police said. Officers conducted surveillance until the driver returned to the vehicle, then used patrol vehicles to block it in. The driver was arrested on suspicion of possessing stolen property and on additional drug charges, while the passenger was arrested on an outstanding misdemeanor warrant, according to police.
Police also reported a brief pursuit Monday afternoon, April 27, that began after an officer tried to stop a vehicle for traffic violations. The driver allegedly failed to yield, accelerated and crashed into a fence near Lugonia Avenue and Nevada Street before fleeing on foot into a field. Officers later found the suspect, who was taken to a hospital before being arrested on suspicion of failure to yield and on an outstanding warrant.
Police also reported two DUI arrests during the week. One driver was arrested after crashing into a light pole in the 900 block of Orange Street shortly after 3 a.m. Sunday, April 26. Another driver was arrested Friday night, April 24, after police said she left the scene of a two-vehicle collision at Sixth Street and Redlands Boulevard and was later found driving on Brockton Avenue.
On Thursday, April 23, Redlands police also assisted the California Highway Patrol in searching for a pursuit suspect who ran across the eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 at Ford Street. Despite an extensive search that included assistance from the Sheriff’s Department helicopter, officers were unable to find the suspect, police said.
