REDLANDS, Calif. — Six drivers were cited during a DUI and driver's license checkpoint conducted by the Redlands Police Department on Friday, June 19.
The checkpoint was held on Cajon Street south of Citrus Avenue between 6 p.m. and midnight. According to police, 509 vehicles were screened during the operation.
Officers issued six citations to drivers for operating a vehicle without a valid license or while driving with a suspended or revoked license. No DUI arrests were reported in the department's summary of the checkpoint.
Police said checkpoint locations are selected based on data related to impaired driving crashes. The purpose of the operations is to improve public safety by identifying impaired drivers and enforcing licensing laws.
Funding for the checkpoint was provided through a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, which receives funding from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
