Former LOOK Cinemas property in Redlands has a new owner
The developer behind several Redlands projects purchased the Eureka Street property for an apparent $6.2 million, according to public records. Plans for the former theater have not been announced.
REDLANDS, Calif. — The former LOOK Dine-In Cinemas property in downtown Redlands has a new owner, months after the theater closed amid the operator’s bankruptcy proceedings.
VONE Eureka LLC purchased the property at 340 N. Eureka St. from Spirit Master Funding X LLC, according to a grant deed obtained by Community Forward Redlands. The transfer was recorded Aug. 10 with the San Bernardino County Recorder.
Financing documents indicate VONE Eureka is managed by Newport Beach-based VantageOne Real Estate Investments LLC, with Thomas N. Robinson II listed as its manager.
According to public records, the property sold for approximately $6.2 million, with the buyer securing a $3.259 million loan from Mega Bank to help finance the purchase.
It is not yet clear what VantageOne intends to do with the former theater property.
Community Forward Redlands contacted Robinson seeking information about plans for the site, including whether the existing theater building could remain or whether redevelopment is being considered. Robinson did not respond by publication time.
The acquisition adds another prominent Redlands property to VantageOne’s portfolio.
VantageOne describes itself as a commercial and residential real estate developer whose projects include new housing, mixed-use developments, historic building conversions and rehabilitation of existing buildings, according to the company’s website.
VantageOne has two approved projects nearby — City Center and The Grand — along with the recently completed redevelopment of the Finney’s and Century 21 building at Orange Avenue and Redlands Boulevard.
City Center, planned at the northwest corner of Brookside Avenue and Eureka Street, is an approved mixed-use development that calls for 138 apartments along with restaurant and retail space. The Grand, at the northeast corner of Redlands Boulevard and Eureka Street, is an approved 149-unit apartment project.
Neither the public records reviewed by Community Forward Redlands nor VantageOne’s website indicate what the company plans for the theater site or whether the acquisition is connected to its existing Redlands projects.
LOOK Dine-In Cinemas closed its Redlands location in February after LOOK Cinemas II LLC agreed in bankruptcy proceedings to surrender its lease for the Redlands property along with locations in Downey and Monrovia.
The Redlands theater property has a long history as an entertainment destination. The theater originally opened as Krikorian Premiere Theatres in 1997 and later operated as Studio Movie Grill before LOOK opened there in 2021.
