Redlands fire calls rise as staffing remains largely unchanged

Two juveniles targeted in strong-arm robbery; officers also respond to DUI arrest and pedestrian collision
REDLANDS, Calif. — Redlands police are investigating a strong-arm robbery involving two juveniles, along with other incidents reported between April 2 and April 9.
The robbery occurred Thursday night, April 2, outside Ross at 27651 W. San Bernardino Ave. Police said two juveniles were approached by a man wearing a gray hoodie, who forcibly took a wallet and cell phone from one of the victims. Officers searched the area but did not locate the suspect.
On Friday evening, April 3, officers arrested a driver on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol after witnesses reported the individual leaving a business while appearing intoxicated. A second caller reported the driver was swerving and nearly hitting other vehicles. Police located the vehicle in a parking lot in the 600 block of Alabama Street. The driver was unable to stand without assistance and was taken into custody. The vehicle was impounded.
Also on April 3, a 41-year-old woman suffered minor injuries after being struck by a vehicle at New York Street and Colton Avenue. Police said the driver was making a right turn onto Colton Avenue when the collision occurred. The driver showed no signs of impairment and told officers he did not see the pedestrian in the crosswalk.
The incidents remain under investigation.
