Officer’s quick CPR credited with saving man’s life in Redlands

REDLANDS, Calif. — A Redlands police officer is credited with helping save the life of a 60-year-old man after finding him unresponsive and beginning CPR before paramedics arrived, authorities said.

Redlands Police Dispatch received a call early Wednesday morning, April 15, reporting a man down on the ground. The first officer on scene found the man not breathing and without a pulse and immediately began CPR.

Redlands Fire Department personnel and ambulance crews arrived and took over life-saving efforts. Paramedics were able to restore the man’s pulse, and he was transported to a hospital for treatment. Officials said the officer’s quick response and immediate action likely saved the man’s life. The incident was later determined to be the result of a medical emergency.

In a separate case, police are investigating a residential burglary reported Friday night, April 10, in the 1000 block of Sunset Hills Lane. Authorities said suspects broke a rear glass door to enter the home and ransacked one room, taking approximately $1,000 worth of jewelry.

Also on April 10, officers responded to a hit-and-run collision at Colton Avenue and Church Street. Police said a suspect vehicle struck another vehicle, injuring the driver, and fled the scene.

A witness reported seeing the driver attempting to repair the vehicle’s front bumper and provided a license plate number to authorities. The injured driver was taken to a hospital with complaints of chest and back pain.

The suspect vehicle was later located parked in Calimesa after its registered owner reported it stolen. The incident remains under investigation.
