Suspect attempted to drill through a hard drive as Redlands Police executed a search warrant at his Yucaipa home, uncovering over 100 files of child sexual abuse material.
YUCAIPA, Calif. — A 26-year-old man was arrested March 6 after injuring himself while attempting to destroy evidence of child sexual abuse material as Redlands Police executed a search warrant at his Yucaipa home, the department announced in a news release.
Alexander Wine-Duchateau was taken into custody at a mobile home park in the 13000 block of 5th Street, where authorities seized multiple electronic devices. As detectives entered the residence, Wine-Duchateau attempted to drill through a hard drive, injuring his fingers in the process. He declined medical treatment.
Investigators have so far uncovered more than 100 files of child sexual abuse material on the seized devices. Wine-Duchateau was booked at the West Valley Detention Center on charges of possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material and destruction of evidence.
The arrest is part of an ongoing operation by the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) regional task force, known as Online Guardian 2.0, which targets the online sexual exploitation of children. The task force includes law enforcement agencies from San Bernardino, Los Angeles, Orange, Ventura, and Santa Barbara counties.
Authorities urge anyone with additional information about the case or incidents of child sexual abuse to contact Redlands Police Detective Dale Peters at (909) 798-7659.
