21-year-old Redlands man taken into custody Wednesday
REDLANDS, Calif. — A 21-year-old Redlands man and former Redlands Unified School District water polo coach was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of multiple sexual offenses involving a 15-year-old girl, according to Redlands police.
Luke Anthony Quintana was taken into custody April 29 following a traffic stop in Redlands. He was arrested on suspicion of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor, sexual penetration with a foreign object and oral copulation with a minor.
Police said Quintana had recently worked as a water polo coach for the district. The girl reported she first met him in October 2025 at a water polo match at Citrus Valley High School. The two later communicated through a social media app and met off campus in February 2026, when a sexual encounter occurred, authorities said.
The girl reported the relationship to police in March, prompting an investigation by a detective with the department’s Special Victims Unit.
In a statement April 29, Redlands Unified School District officials said Quintana served as an assistant coach during the 2024-25 school year and as a volunteer during the 2025-26 school year.
District officials said they met with the student and her parent after learning of a report made to police on March 24 and reported the matter to law enforcement.
“According to the information reported, communication between the student and the volunteer began outside of school and continued over a period of time prior to the alleged incident,” the district said in a statement.
The district said it is cooperating with investigators.
“The safety and well-being of our students remain our highest priority,” Superintendent Juan Cabral said in a statement. “We are deeply concerned by these allegations and are committed to fully cooperating with law enforcement while taking all appropriate actions within our authority.”
The district said it will provide counseling and support services to students who may be affected.
