🏗️ Demolition is underway at the long-vacant Redlands Mall site. Construction crews were seen digging out light poles and removing the pergola in the northeast corner. The work comes two months after Esri co-owners Jack and Laura Dangermond purchased the property. Read more here.

🚔 Redlands police arrested two suspects in an attempted burglary at Redlands Cyclery USA one day before the business’s scheduled opening at its new downtown location. A reported shooting, residential burglaries, a machete arrest and multiple other incidents were detailed in the department’s police report covering Dec. 31 through Jan. 15.
🚒 A woman was hospitalized after suffering severe burns while escaping a mobile home fire on Dearborn Street. The fire was extinguished within about 20 minutes. The cause of the fire, which resulted in an estimated $200,000 in damage, remains under investigation. Read more here.
🏥 Redlands Community Hospital names Adam Thunell as its new CEO. Thunell, a veteran health care executive, has previously served as senior vice president and chief operating officer at Community Memorial Healthcare in Ventura. He has also held leadership positions at Cottage Health in Santa Barbara and Fairview Health Services in Minneapolis.

🩺 Whooping cough cases in San Bernardino have nearly tripled compared with last year. County health officials issued an alert warning that low vaccination rates, particularly among children, are increasing the risk of community spread.

🏈 REV football earns All-CIF recognition. Two Redlands East Valley High School seniors are closing out their high school football careers with top honors. Quarterback Isaac Vitela and offensive lineman Landon Malotkoski were named to the All-CIF Southern Section Division 10 first team, the only Redlands-area players to earn all-section recognition this season. Their selections cap a milestone year for the Wildcats, who played their first season in their new on-campus stadium and leaned on a balanced, high-producing offense. 🤼 Winter wrestling recap: Redlands East Valley High School’s wrestling program made the most of winter break, competing in six tournaments across Southern California and picking up key Citrus Belt League wins along the way.
