YUCAIPA, Calif. — Residents will have an opportunity to safely dispose of unused or expired medications during National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, April 25, at Yucaipa Community Park.

The event, scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., is hosted by the Institute for Public Strategies East Valley in partnership with the Yucaipa Sheriff’s Department, the city of Yucaipa and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.

Organizers will provide secure drop boxes where community members can anonymously turn in unwanted prescription medications. The substances will be collected and disposed of by professionals in accordance with federal guidelines.

Officials say the effort is aimed at reducing the risk of prescription drug misuse and preventing medications from entering local water systems through improper disposal.

“Many people have medications they no longer need or that have expired,” organizers said in a statement. “This event offers a safe and responsible way to dispose of them while helping protect the community.”

In addition to the disposal site, community organizations, including the C&C Center for Healing, are expected to provide information and resources during the event.

The collection will take place at Yucaipa Community Park, 34900 Oak Glen Road. Participation is free and open to the public.
