REDLANDS, Calif. – The Redlands Unified School District Board of Education will hold public hearings Tuesday on its proposed 2026-27 budget and Local Control and Accountability Plan, key annual documents that outline how the district plans to spend money and improve student outcomes.
Trustees will also consider a nearly $906,000 agreement with the YMCA of the East Valley to provide afterschool programming and approve a major safety upgrade project at Beattie Middle School.
Here’s what to know:
Budget and accountability plan hearings (9a)
The board will conduct three public hearings related to the district’s finances and priorities for the 2026-27 school year:

District reserve balances that exceed the state-recommended minimum reserve requirement
The LCAP outlines the district’s goals, spending priorities and strategies for improving student achievement, while the budget details how those plans will be funded.
YMCA afterschool program agreement (14f)
Trustees will consider approving a one-year, $905,590 agreement with the YMCA of the East Valley to operate afterschool enrichment programs at four district schools.
The program would be funded through After School Education and Safety (ASES) and Expanded Learning Opportunity Program (ELOP) funds and would continue the district’s partnership with the YMCA to provide academic support, enrichment activities and student supervision outside regular school hours.
Beattie Middle School safety project (12i)
The board is expected to award contracts totaling approximately $3.8 million for Phase 1 of the Middle School Safety Project at Beattie Middle School.

Literacy and dyslexia screening support (14d)
Trustees will review an agreement with AMIRA to provide reading assessments, dyslexia screening and AI-supported reading tutoring for students in grades K-2.
The $84,375 program is intended to help the district comply with California’s new dyslexia screening requirements, which take effect during the 2026-27 school year.
New flag football courses (14h-i)
The board will consider adding flag football to the district’s secondary physical education course catalog.
The courses were recommended by the District Level Curriculum Committee and would be available during the 2026-27 school year.
