Crews stop 1-acre blaze near San Timoteo Canyon Road
REDLANDS, Calif. — A vegetation fire that burned approximately one acre near Refuse Road and San Timoteo Canyon Road on Thursday morning was quickly contained following a rapid response from multiple agencies.
A total of 31 fire personnel responded to the incident, including a Redlands battalion chief, three Redlands fire engines, three Cal Fire engines, two San Bernardino County Fire engines and one Colton Fire engine, along with Cal Fire prevention and training personnel, according to Redlands Fire Capt. and public information officer Dustin Whitaker.
Fire crews stopped the forward rate of spread shortly after arriving on scene, preventing the blaze from growing beyond its initial footprint.
The fire was initially reported by multiple 911 callers, Whitaker said.
Firefighters remained at the scene for one to two hours to mop up hot spots and secure the area.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
No injuries or structural damage were immediately reported.
