City invites community to ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating completion of Church Street to 7th Street section
Update 10/02 - The Zanja Trail ribbon-cutting scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 2, has been canceled due to heat and unhealthy air quality, the city of Redlands posted on its social media account Wednesday morning. The event is expected to be rescheduled.
REDLANDS, Calif. – Redlands residents are invited to join in celebrating the latest addition to the historic Zanja Trail. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 2, marking the completion of a key trail segment.
The event will take place near the newly finished section, which runs from Church Street to 7th Street, just off 9th Street.
The Zanja Trail follows the route of the historic Zanja waterway, originally built in the early 1800s to bring water from Mill Creek to the surrounding area.
City officials and community members will share a few words at the ceremony, after which attendees can be among the first to check out the new trail section.
The city encourages residents, local groups, and history buffs to come out and be part of the celebration.
