REDLANDS, Calif. — The Redlands Planning Commission will meet Tuesday, Oct. 14, with a full agenda featuring a possible warehouse ban, new housing proposals and updates to Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) standards.
Here’s how the meeting breaks down:
Consent Calendar
The consent calendar groups together routine, non-controversial items for approval in a single vote, unless a council member pulls an item for separate discussion or a public comment is submitted.
On this agenda, these include:
A one-year extension request from the UCR Group, LLC. for the construction of a 48,079-square-foot light industrial building at the northeast corner of New Jersey Street and West Park Avenue.
A one-year extension request to construct and operate a commercial shopping center. The project includes a 16,027-square-foot major tenant space, two drive-thru restaurants, and related site improvements.
New Business
The new business section addresses larger or more complex topics requiring individual council discussion and action.
Highlights include:
A public hearing to consider a plan to split a 36,097-square-foot lot at 1560 N. Church Street into two residential parcels. A Socio-Economic Cost/Benefit study will be reviewed.
A public hearing to consider plans for an eight-unit condominium project in four two-story buildings at 516 and 532 Cajon Street. The proposal includes a parcel merger, a conditional use permit, site plan review and a required Socio-Economic Study under Measure U.
A proposal to update the development standards and design regulations for Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) citywide.
The commission will also discuss possible zoning changes that could ban new warehouse and logistics distribution centers in the city. The Planning Commission discussed the topic at its April 8 and May 27, 2025 meetings. In May, the Commission voted 4 to 2 directing city staff to conduct additional analysis on amending the Zoning Regulations (RMC Title 18) and the recently adopted warehouse ordinance (Ordinance No. 2955). The goal was to find a way to prohibit new warehousing and logistics distribution facility uses in the City, without detrimentally affecting or amortizing existing warehouse developments. City staff will present their findings on Tuesday.
4:00 p.m. Call to order and public comment period.
