REDLANDS, Calif. — A 27-year-old Redlands man was killed in a hit-and-run collision on Interstate 10 last week, and California Highway Patrol investigators are seeking information about the driver who struck him.

CHP identified the victim as Christian Gillespie of Redlands.

At approximately 11:23 a.m. Sept. 2, CHP's San Bernardino Area office received a report of a pedestrian down along the right shoulder and dirt embankment of westbound I-10 at the transition to westbound State Route 210 in Redlands, according to a collision news release.

CHP officers responded and found Gillespie dead at the scene. Investigators determined he had been struck by a vehicle.

The driver did not remain at the scene and has not been identified. CHP's news release does not provide a description of the vehicle involved.

In response to questions from Community Forward Redlands, CHP said investigators are "using all departmental resources and reaching out to witnesses" as they investigate the fatal collision.

Anyone with information about the collision is asked to contact Officer C. Rossi at the CHP San Bernardino Area office at 909-383-4227.
