Community sale will feature donated Japanese cultural items as the center prepares to expand its educational and cultural programs.
REDLANDS, Calif. — The Redlands Japanese Cultural Center will host a Second Chance Sale on Sunday, Nov. 15, offering the public an opportunity to purchase Japanese cultural items donated by community members.
The sale will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the center, 542 E. Stuart Ave., Unit B, in Redlands.
The event comes as the center prepares to expand its educational and cultural programming, a process that includes reorganizing its space and resources to accommodate future activities.
Over the years, the center has received numerous donations of Japanese cultural items from community supporters. The Second Chance Sale will make those items available for purchase at reasonable prices, giving them new homes while supporting the center's mission of preserving and promoting Japanese culture.
The center is also offering free karate and traditional Japanese dance classes for new students throughout November. Shito Ryu karate classes, taught by Kevin Seishiro Suzuki, are held Mondays and Wednesdays for children ages 6 to 14, while Japanese dance classes for children ages 5 and older are held Tuesdays. Registration is available through the center's website.
Community members are invited to browse the Second Chance Sale, and individuals interested in participating as vendors can contact Suzuki at 951-591-1115 for more information.
