Citrus Valley High graduate Keedan Nadeau helps power Coyotes’ postseason surge and deep NCAA Division II playoff run
Citrus Belt League team champion Redlands High School finished fifth in the CIF Southern Section Division 3 championship tournament this past week at Los Serranos Country Club’s South Course in Chino.
The Terriers team shot 402 for 18 holes, 32 over par, to finish 14 shots behind the division champion Crean Lutheran High.
Freshman Johnny Suh and sophomore CJ Lorenzo led the Terriers with rounds of 79, five over par on the course which is rated at 74.1 for 18 holes and measures 7,082 yards from the blue tees.
Suh finished second in the CBL tournament with rounds of 76 and 77 at Redlands Country Club while Lorenzo placed fifth with two rounds of 78.
Meanwhile, CBL member Cajon High, competing in Division 7, won the division title at Meadowlark Golf Club in Huntington Beach after shooting a 419, 69 over par.
Cajon was 3-7 in CBL dual matches but produced its best nine-hole splits of the season at 206 and 213. Andrew Soriano led the Cowboys with a 78 while Gavin Ploehn and James Amori each shot 81. Freddie Ortiz shot 86 and Alexander Marquez posted a 93.
In the same Division 7 tournament, JC Casaclang shot a 70 for Redlands Adventist Academy and Ethan Castillo shot a 69 for Loma Linda Academy, one shot back of the tournament medalist Thomas Little of Santa Rosa Academy (68).
“When the year started there was talk that we were going to shut down the program due to lack of participation,” Cajon Coach Erick Jordan told the Southern California News Group.
“To go from that to a varsity roster of 15 and a CIF-SS championship is just incredible and a testament to the hard work of a group of wonderful guys,” Jordan said.
