REDLANDS, Calif. — The Redlands branch of the American Association of University Women will host Anne Thorward, president of Newcomers Access Center, as guest speaker at its Tuesday, May 6, evening meeting.

Thorward will present “Serving Immigrants and Refugees in Our Midst,” highlighting the work of the nonprofit NAC, which assists immigrant and refugee families across Southern California. She will share personal stories and offer insights on how the community can support vulnerable populations.

The presentation begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Casa Loma Room at the University of Redlands. Community members are welcome to attend the meeting and program at no cost.

Those interested in attending the optional 5:30 p.m. social hour and dinner may RSVP at AAUWrsvp@AAUWRedlands.org or by calling 909-362-4955. The meal fee is $30.

Thorward, a former teacher and financial advisor, founded NAC in 2017 after volunteering to tutor a Syrian refugee student. The experience connected her with local refugee families and inspired the creation of the nonprofit.

AAUW is a national nonprofit dedicated to advancing equity for women and girls through education and advocacy. More information is available at AAUWRedlands.org and newcomersaccesscenter.org.
