Police say armed suspect surrendered after BearCat deployment; sawed-off shotgun recovered
REDLANDS, Calif. — An attempted murder suspect wanted in Yucaipa was arrested in Redlands after a vehicle pursuit and standoff Saturday morning, authorities said.
A Redlands police officer spotted the suspect, who was considered armed and dangerous, near Almond and Mountain View avenues on March 28 and attempted a traffic stop.
The suspect failed to yield, leading officers on a pursuit that ended when a PIT maneuver disabled the vehicle.
Police deployed a tactical BearCat vehicle as the suspect barricaded himself inside. An officer attempted to negotiate before the suspect ultimately surrendered without further incident.
The suspect was taken into custody by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
Officers recovered a sawed-off shotgun from the driver’s side floorboard of the vehicle.
