REDLANDS, Calif. — The YMCA of the East Valley is marking the national YMCA’s 175th anniversary in 2026 with what officials say is its largest New Year membership promotion to date, offering new members a $0 joining fee and a discounted first month of $17.50 for a limited time.
The YMCA of the East Valley operates facilities in Redlands and surrounding communities, offering group exercise classes, indoor and outdoor pools, wellness programs and free childcare for members while they work out. The organization does not require annual fees or long-term contracts.
“At the YMCA, we’re more than a gym — we are a community,” the organization said in announcing the promotion, emphasizing its role as a welcoming space for people of all ages.
Longtime members say the YMCA has played a central role in their family lives. Cecil Bradley, a member of the Highland YMCA for more than 28 years, said multiple generations of his family have participated in YMCA programs.
“My family has grown up in the Y from my kids to grandkids and it has been central to my family’s fitness journey and is a place where we can stay connected,” Bradley said.

The YMCA of the East Valley also highlights its youth and family programming, including what it says is the only YMCA-operated youth circus program in the United States, designed to build confidence and creativity among young participants.
As a nonprofit organization, the YMCA offers financial assistance for memberships and programs to help ensure access regardless of income. Afsaneh Abed said that support made participation possible for her family.

“The Redlands YMCA has been a lifeline for us and thanks to the financial assistance, we have been able to join this supportive environment which has given us hope, connection and purpose,” Abed said.
YMCA officials encouraged residents to make health and wellness a priority in the new year and to take advantage of the anniversary promotion.
