Redlands joins cities across the Inland Empire in Saturday’s nationwide No Kings rallies for democracy and accountability.
REDLANDS, Calif. — As part of the nationwide No Kings Rally on Saturday, Oct. 18, communities across the Inland Empire will host protests and gatherings calling for strong democratic governance and resistance to authoritarian leadership.
In Redlands, the local rally is scheduled from 4 to 7:30 p.m. in Downtown Redlands at the the intersection of Orange Street and Redlands Boulevard — dubbed by organizers as "Peace Corner."
The No Kings organization is a grassroots coalition advocating for civic empowerment and opposition to authoritarianism. Organizers say the movement seeks to reaffirm that “power belongs to the people — not to kings, thrones or crowns,” echoing the themes of previous protests in Redlands and beyond.
No Kings organizers say the president’s actions have escalated since the summer protests.
“They are targeting immigrant families, profiling, arresting and detaining people without warrants. Threatening to overtake elections. Gutting health care, environmental protections and education when families need them most. Rigging maps to silence voters. Ignoring mass shootings at our schools and in our communities,” the group writes on its event webpage.
This will not be Redlands’ first No Kings rally. In June, residents gathered in the same location to join a nationwide day of protest against authoritarian symbolism and policy. Hundreds participated, holding signs, chanting slogans and calling for accountability.
One local protester at that event said, “We’re here because the corruption has gone too far. … The threats — it’s all part of a pattern that can’t be ignored.”
According to the No Kings official map of registered events, several Inland Empire cities will host protests. Here are some Inland Empire locations to watch:
