Part of a national movement, the events oppose authoritarianism and coincide with Trump’s birthday and Flag Day
A dozen Inland Empire cities will host coordinated protests this Saturday as part of the nationwide “No Kings Day of Defiance."
The movement is organized 50501, a national grassroots movement whose name stands for “50 states, 50 protests, one movement.” Organizers describe the coordinated protests as a rejection of authoritarianism and a call for renewed commitment to democracy, equality and the rule of law.
Saturday's protest is expected to be the largest single-day mobilization since President Trump returned to office.
The June 14 date was chosen to coincide with Trump’s 79th birthday, Flag Day, and a military parade scheduled to be held in Washington, D.C.
Organizers say more than 2,000 local demonstrations are planned.
In the Inland Empire, confirmed protests include events in Redlands, Riverside, Chino Hills, Rancho Cucamonga, Claremont, Victorville, Big Bear Lake, Joshua Tree, Rancho Mirage, Palm Springs, Temecula and Menifee. Each protest is independently organized but shares a unified message: “We reject kings. We reject tyrants. We fight for freedom.”
Here’s a list of local events scheduled for Saturday, June 14:
Protesters are encouraged to wear white, bring American flags and handmade signs, and rally peacefully to demonstrate opposition to authoritarian rule and support for democratic values.
