REDLANDS, Calif. — The Redlands Unified School District Board of Education will meet Tuesday, Oct. 14, at 6 p.m. to consider a range of business, education and personnel items, including a feasibility study for new stadium bleachers at Redlands High School, student trips to Catalina Island and Northern California colleges, and new contracts for culturally relevant training and student wellness programs.

The meeting will take place in the Board Room at 25 W. Lugonia Ave. and will be livestreamed on the district website. Public comments must be made in person.


Closed Session

Before the public meeting, the board will hold a closed session at 3:00 p.m. to discuss sensitive matters including labor negotiations, employee evaluations, personnel appointments, litigation and student discipline.

Stadium and facilities projects

Under Business Services Content Items, trustees will vote on an agreement with Taylor & Syfan Consulting Engineers for a $26,500 feasibility study of Redlands High School’s home-side bleachers. The study will assess whether the structure can support a new 8-by-42-foot press box with rooftop access.

Other construction-related items include change orders for roofing at McKinley Elementary ($5,926.45) and stadium and parking lot improvements at Redlands East Valley High School ($15,922), along with a notice of completion for HVAC replacement at REV’s café.

The district will also approve revised meeting dates for the 2025-26 school year which includes three additional meetings this school year.


Student travel and academic programs

A large portion of the agenda covers student field trips and academic enrichment under the Educational Services Content Items. Among them:

  • Mariposa Elementary fifth graders traveling to the Catalina Island Marine Institute for hands-on marine science experiments.
  • Redlands High School AVID students visiting Northern California colleges to prepare for the application process.
  • Citrus Valley High School choirs and REV’s Mock Trial and wrestling teams competing in statewide events this school year.

The board will also ratify AVID membership fees for 13 schools districtwide, totaling about $48,000, continuing the district’s college-readiness program.

The Educational Services also recommends contracts with several outside providers:

  • Imani Enterprises Consulting LLC for $12,000 in culturally relevant instruction and parent engagement training led by Dr. Chike Akua.
  • Mindfulness in Motion, not to exceed $152,050, for psychoeducational evaluations and behavior assessments funded through an IEEEP grant.
  • New Direction Solutions (ProCare Therapy) to staff occupational and speech therapy positions.
  • Scott Backovich Communications, providing $16,500 in leadership and wellness training for all RUSD middle and high schools.

Recognitions and resolutions

The meeting will begin with a student highlight from the Studio 24 Adult Transition Program at Redlands High School.
Trustees are also set to adopt a resolution supporting Red Ribbon Week, observed Oct. 23–31, under the national theme “Life is a Puzzle, Solve It Drug Free.”


Personnel actions and university partnerships

Human Resources Consent Items: Dozens of human-resources items are listed, including new hires, resignations, leaves, and volunteer approvals.

Human Resources Action Items: The board will also consider updated teaching agreements with six universities, including the University of Redlands, Loyola Marymount, and Cal Baptist, to host student teachers through 2028.


Public participation

Community members may comment on agenda items by submitting a registration card before the start of public participation. Comments are limited to three minutes.

Closed session begins at 3:30 p.m. to discuss labor negotiations, employee evaluations, litigation, and student discipline cases. Open session begins at 6:00 p.m.
