University of Redlands junior Stian Asper placed third overall at the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference cross-country championships, helping the Bulldog men finish fourth while the women’s team placed seventh.
Two Redlands runners led the pack at the Citrus Belt League finals, with REV’s Elijah Medina and Citrus Valley’s Alyssa Castaneda taking top honors and Yucaipa and Cajon winning the team titles.
REDLANDS, Calif. — The Redlands Unified School District Board of Education will meet Tuesday, Nov. 4, at 6 p.m. to consider a range of business, education, and personnel items, including an expanded English learner program, student field trips, and a new shade structure at Redlands East Valley High School. The board will also hear a report on the district’s latest state test results.
The meeting will take place in the Board Room at 25 W. Lugonia Ave. and will be livestreamed on the district website. Public comments must be made in person.
Closed Session
Before the public meeting, the board will hold a closed session at 4 p.m. to discuss sensitive matters including labor negotiations, employee evaluations, personnel appointments, litigation and student discipline.
Negotiations will include representatives from both the Redlands Education Support Professionals Association (RESPA) and the Redlands Teachers Association (RTA).
Recognitions and Presentations
The meeting will open with a student highlight from the district’s Empowering Positive Moments series, celebrating achievements within the school community.
Trustees will also hear a presentation on the district’s 2025 CAASPP testing results and college course credit report.
The Redlands Educational Partnership (REP) Foundation will recognize Uma Harano as a REP Grant recipient.
Facilities and Business Services
Under Business Services Content Items, trustees will consider several construction and facilities updates, including:
A $15,718.60 agreement with Verdantas Inc. for testing and inspections related to a new 75-foot cantilever shade structure at Redlands East Valley High School.
Change orders for roof repairs at Crafton Elementary ($7,887.58) and Kimberly Elementary ($12,406.05) to replace rotted plywood and maintain safety and warranty standards.
A Notice of Completion for the REV Stadium Phase II Project, finalized Oct. 23.
A $200,000 settlement agreement funded by the District General Fund in case 610699.
Payment transmittals totaling roughly $7 million.
Student Travel and Academic Programs
Several educational items focus on enrichment and student learning opportunities:
Fifth graders from Smiley Elementary will travel to Pathfinder Ranch for hands-on science and ecology lessons.
Redlands High School Chamber Singers and Les Chanteuses will perform at the WorldStrides Heritage Festival in Anaheim in April 2026.
A $74,208 contract with Summit K12 to expand English Language Development curriculum and teacher training for grades 6–12.
An $11,500 professional development agreement with Solution Tree to support leadership through the PLC at Work model.
A $6,000 contract with Bookworm Educational & Psychological Services for specialized student evaluations.
A $5,000 agreement with Hablame/Talk For Me Language Services for bilingual translation and interpretation.
The board will also review travel requests for professional meetings and vote on student discipline matters, including reinstating one previously expelled student and approving three new stipulated expulsions.
Personnel actions and university partnerships
Human Resources items include new hires, resignations, leaves, and volunteer approvals.
Action items include a revised Academic Case Carrier job description, an updated management salary schedule, and a new clinical student placement agreement with San José State University to host student teachers and counseling interns through 2030.

Community members wishing to comment must submit a registration card before the start of public participation. Comments are limited to three minutes.
