The owner of Redlands Cyclery USA, 21 W. Stuart Ave., contacted police around 3 a.m. after observing two suspects smash a window and attempt to enter the business. Officers responded and located the suspects a short distance away. Both were positively identified and arrested, police said.
The attempted burglary occurred one day before Redlands Cyclery USA’s scheduled opening at its new location in Downtown Redlands.

Police are investigating two residential burglaries reported Saturday, Jan. 3, in the 1600 block of Sheffield Lane and the 1700 block of Camelot Drive. About two hours later, a homeowner on Camelot Drive reported their residence had been burglarized. In both cases, police said the suspects entered through shattered rear glass doors.
Officers responded to reports of 30 to 50 juveniles riding e-bikes and e-motorcycles and causing disturbances on and around the University of Redlands campus, including kicking over trash cans and throwing trash, police said.
As officers followed the group at low speed with lights and sirens and issued public address announcements, one juvenile on an e-motorcycle split from the group and collided with the back of a patrol car during an attempted stop. The patrol vehicle sustained minor damage, and the juvenile complained of pain. He was arrested for failure to yield, cited and released to a guardian.
