REDLANDS, Calif. — Local senior artists will celebrate nearly a decade of watercolor painting with a public exhibition and reception Saturday at the Joe R. Gonzales Community Center.
The city of Redlands Facilities and Community Services Department will host the showcase from 3 to 6 p.m. March 14 at the community center, 111 W. Lugonia Ave. The event will feature watercolor pieces created by participants in a long-running class offered through the city’s Flores Senior Center.
The class has been taught since June 2016 by Redlands artist Cindy Sullivan and has become a regular part of the senior center’s enrichment programming.
“For almost 10 years, these classes have been a wonderful opportunity for finding joy in self-expression,” Sullivan said. “We invite the community to come and admire the incredible talent and dedication these seniors have poured into their work.”
City officials say the program offers older adults a space to explore creativity while building friendships and developing artistic skills.
The exhibition will give visitors a chance to meet the artists and view a range of watercolor works created in the class. Recreation staff will also be available to provide information about upcoming sessions for those interested in joining future classes.
The reception is free and open to the public.
