REDLANDS, Calif. – The San Bernardino County Museum will temporarily close its Hall of Biodiversity for two weeks to complete the final phase of an exhibit overhaul, officials announced. The hall will close from March 10 through March 21, with a soft reopening scheduled for March 22 at 11 a.m.
“We are excited to present the Hall of Biodiversity in its final form and are taking this time to ensure every detail is perfect,” said Dr. Mackenzie Kirchner-Smith, curator of integrated biology.
During the closure, museum staff will conduct final walkthroughs, install new specimens, add educational materials, and introduce interactive elements aimed at enhancing visitor engagement.
To mark the reopening, the SBCM Foundation is sponsoring a promotional giveaway. The first 100 museum foundation and Kids Club members in attendance will receive a squishy polar bear stress reliever. The giveaway commemorates the return of a polar bear specimen from the museum’s collections.
“This is a limited-time offer, so be sure to arrive early to secure your giveaway,” said Brandon Mulder, executive director of the SBCM Foundation.
The San Bernardino County Museum, located at 2024 Orange Tree Lane in Redlands, is open Tuesday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. General admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and military personnel, $7 for students, and $5 for children ages 6 to 12.
