The Redlands Police Department invites residents to use its monitored parking lot to safely complete online purchases and meet-ups.
REDLANDS, Calif. — Looking for a safe place to buy or sell items from Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, or OfferUp? The Redlands Police Department wants residents to know about its designated e-commerce exchange zone, located at the main station at 1270 W. Park Ave.
The area is monitored by 24/7 video surveillance, allowing people to complete transactions in a secure, neutral location.
“The purpose of the e-commerce exchange zone is to make sure everybody can sell their items in a safe environment,” said Detective Strobaugh in a recent social media video. “You can come here, park with the person you’re meeting, and exchange your products.”
The initiative is part of the department’s effort to reduce scams, thefts, and safety risks associated with in-person exchanges.
While there's no official local data tying meetups to robberies or assaults in San Bernardino County, national news—including four armed robberies in Waterbury, CT—underscore the risk. That’s why Redlands PD’s e-commerce exchange zone offers a safer alternative.
For more information, visit Redlands Police Department or stop by the station.
