University of Redlands junior Stian Asper placed third overall at the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference cross-country championships, helping the Bulldog men finish fourth while the women’s team placed seventh.
Two Redlands runners led the pack at the Citrus Belt League finals, with REV’s Elijah Medina and Citrus Valley’s Alyssa Castaneda taking top honors and Yucaipa and Cajon winning the team titles.

Two Redlands runners led the pack at the Citrus Belt League finals, with REV’s Elijah Medina and Citrus Valley’s Alyssa Castaneda taking top honors and Yucaipa and Cajon winning the team titles.
Redlands East Valley’s Elijah Medina won the boys race and Citrus Valley’s Alyssa Castaneda took the girls race on Saturday at the Citrus Belt League cross-country finals.
The event was at Yucaipa Community Park.
Yucaipa High captured the girls team championship with 25 points, with all five runners finishing in the top 10. Cajon took the boys team title with 35 points with four runners in the top 10.
Medina, who finished fourth in CBL cluster meet No. 1 and second in meet No. 2, outran Ayden Ramirez of Cajon in the 3-mile run, finishing in 15:07.2, 10 seconds ahead of Ramirez, who won the first two CBL cluster meets.

Castaneda narrowly edged Yucaipa’s Isabel Alonzo at the finish of the girls 3-mile run, timed in 18:44.8 with Alonzo a couple steps behind in 18:45.4. Yucaipa freshman Brooks Tarcon, who won the two previous CBL meets, took third in 18:46.4. Thunderbird runners Tori Rivera and Lavender Glover finished fifth and sixth to aid the Thunderbirds’ triumph.

The Cajon boys won each of the three CBL league meets. Cajon posted 35 points in the finals followed by Redlands East Valley with 39 points, Yucaipa (65), Beaumont (85), Citrus Valley 131) and Redlands (142).
Yucaipa girls also won all three CBL meets to earn the team title. Yucaipa had three runners in the top six finishers to earn 25 points, followed by runner-up Beaumont with 57 points, minus their No. 1 runner Aracelly Guzman. Cajon was third at 66 points. Citrus Valley (87), REV (140) and Redlands (148) rounded out the teams.
Top five REV boys runners were 10th place Brenden Mercado-Medina (15:53.9), 11th place Dominick Vasquez (15:55.9), 13th place Jaime Wallace (16:03.8), and 14th place Emery Dominguez (16:09.3).
Junior Evan Rout led Citrus Valley with a 12th place finish in 16:02.0. Jonah Duffy was 25th in 16:55.2; Jaden Jacob was 25th in 16:56.8 followed by Ryan Schafer (33rd) and Jesus Saldana (35th) in the 40-runner field.
Junior Calvin Osborn led Redlands High with a 17th place finish in 16:22.4. Roland Smith, a freshman, also broke 17 minutes with a 16:51.5 clocking in 23rd place. They were followed by Aaron Ingham (32nd), and Shivam Patel (34th).
Aiding the Citrus Valley girls’ fourth-place finish were Suheily Chavez, 18th in 20:45.2; Alegra Caldera, 21st in 21:06.5; Isabella Castaneda, 22nd in 21:20.0, and Abigail Lopez, 25th in 21:32.2.
REV was led by junior Kiera Dorneiden who was 19th in 20:53.7. Adilynn Boyce was second in 21:34.3. Ariana Zollinger was 30th in 21:50.7. Hannah Weisz was 32nd and Kapri Henrie was 33rd in the 41-runner field.
Redlands High freshman Lyanna Garcia took 15th place in 20:02.4, followed by another freshman, Brooklyn Ryan, in the 23rd spot (21;23.0). Kennedy Ayers was 35th, Fiona Doyle (36th), and Gwendolyn Duenez was 39th.
Qualifying teams and individuals will advance to the CIF-Southern Section preliminaries Nov. 14-15 with the finals scheduled for Nov. 22.
All events will be contested at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut.
