Wildcats improve to 2-0 in league as Cougars post dominant wins and Yucaipa edges Cajon in boys competition

REV sweeps Citrus Valley; Beaumont dominates Redlands in CBL meets

Redlands East Valley’s varsity track and field teams swept district rival Citrus Valley to improve to 2-0 in the Citrus Belt League’s 2026 dual meet schedule.

The Wildcats boys team won 79-46, while the girls team prevailed 74-53. Citrus Valley’s boys and girls teams are now 0-2 in league competition.

In other CBL meets, Beaumont High opened its league campaign with a sweep of Redlands High. The Cougars overwhelmed the Terriers 112-15 in the boys meet and won the girls meet 89-38. Yucaipa’s boys edged Cajon by one point, 64-63, while the Cajon girls dominated Yucaipa 91-36.

REV sophomore Elijah Medina improved his personal best in the 800 meters, winning in 1:57.12 after earlier taking the 1600 meters in 4:33.99. His 1600 time was off his personal best of 4:18.72 set last week at the Redondo Nike Invitational.

Yoanis Altamirano of REV won the shot put at 43 feet, 5.5 inches and the discus at 135 feet, 6 inches. De-Mareaye Hopkins won both hurdle events for the Wildcats.

Citrus Valley’s Adam Sanchez won the triple jump at 39 feet, 6 inches, while Chase Carpenter won the high jump at 5 feet, 10 inches. Teammate Eido Chakra also cleared 5-10 and placed second.

In the girls competition, REV freshman Savannah Morris won both the 100 meters (12.27) and 200 meters (25.70). She also won the long jump at 16 feet, 10 inches, and ran on the Wildcats’ first-place 4x100-meter relay team, which finished in 50.50.

Citrus Valley freshman Alyssa Castaneda doubled in the distance races, winning the 1600 meters in 5:43.21 and the 800 meters in 2:28.53, both off her personal best times.

Kendall Timm won the high jump for Citrus Valley, while Marisa Torres won the 300-meter hurdles and Bailey Holke won the 100-meter hurdles.

In Beaumont’s sweep of Redlands, Daryl Williams established himself as one of the CBL’s top sprinters in 2026. He won the 100 meters in 10.76 and the 200 meters in 21.66, both personal bests, and ran a leg on the Cougars’ 4x100-meter relay team, which finished in 42.56. Williams also posted a personal-best 48.48 in the 400 meters at last week’s Redondo Nike Invitational.

Redlands earned a sweep in the boys long jump, with Kasen Gragg winning at 21 feet even, followed by Matthew Luna at 20 feet, 8 inches, and Aidan Walsh at 19 feet.

Sadie Herford led the Terriers girls team with wins in the 100 meters (12.93), 200 meters (26.09) and the long jump (17 feet). Teammate Carmen Robles won the shot put at 36 feet and the discus at 114 feet, 7 inches, while Chloe Rodina won the 100-meter hurdles.

CBL dual meet action resumes April 7 with REV facing Cajon, Redlands taking on Citrus Valley and Beaumont meeting Yucaipa.
