REDLANDS, Calif. — Redlands residents are invited to imagine how the city could adapt to climate change over the next 50 years during an interactive workshop Wednesday, Jan. 21, hosted by Accelerate Neighborhood Climate Action.

The event, titled “Redlands 2075: Pathways to a Climate-Resilient Community,” will run from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Flores Senior Center and will be led by University of Redlands associate professor Nick Reksten.

Participants will work in small groups to envision what a climate-resilient Redlands could look like in 2075 and identify actions the community could begin taking now. Topics include local food systems, habitat protection, low-carbon transportation, access to health care and strategies to reduce extreme heat in homes and neighborhoods.

“Redlands will undergo major change as we adapt to climate impacts,” Reksten said. “This event invites people to look ahead — beyond the next few years — and think about the community we want to leave to future generations.”

The workshop is free and open to the public. Registration is available through Eventbrite, and walk-ins will be accepted.
