Redlands FC Opens 2026 Season With Unfinished Business

A look at the club’s 2026 USL League Two schedule and key matchups

Redlands FC Opens 2026 Season With Unfinished Business

After narrowly missing the playoffs in 2025, Redlands FC enters the 2026 season with unfinished business. With another competitive Southwest Division standing in the way, the club is looking to return to the playoff form that defined its inaugural campaign.

Redlands FC competes in USL League Two, a national pre-professional league and the highest level of soccer in the Inland Empire. The club plays its home matches at Dodge Stadium in Redlands and aims to represent the region with high-level competition and community pride.

Last season was not what Redlands FC came here to do. After winning the Southwest Division and reaching the playoffs in their inaugural 2023 campaign, the club has spent the last two seasons working to get back there. In 2025, the team went 6-3-3, scored 40 goals, and posted a goal difference of +21, but finished fifth in the Southwest Division, one point behind City SC and out of the playoff picture.

The numbers were encouraging in places. The result was not.

That is the backdrop for everything that follows in 2026.

This year's schedule is another 12-match Southwest Division slate. The opponents are familiar, the stakes are the same, and Redlands FC has something to prove.

2026 SEASON SCHEDULE

Road Trip to Open the Season

The club opens the year with back-to-back away fixtures before a ball is kicked at Dodge Stadium. On May 23, Redlands FC travels to Kino North Stadium in Tucson to face FC Tucson. The two sides split their 2025 meetings: Redlands lost on the road in Tucson in May before winning 2-0 at home in June. FC Tucson finished 2nd in the Southwest last season and qualified for the USL League Two Playoffs, making this a proper early test of where Redlands FC stands in 2026.

Less than 24 hours later, on May 24, the squad heads to Ottawa University's Spirit Field in Arizona to face Stars FC. Redlands swept Stars FC in both meetings last season, winning 3-2 at home and

2-1 on the road, so this is a fixture the club will approach with confidence even on a quick turnaround.

First Home Match of 2026

After the road trip, Redlands FC returns to Dodge Stadium on May 30 to host City SC San Diego in the first home fixture of the season. City SC finished 4th in the Southwest last year and were one of the teams that edged Redlands FC out of a playoff spot. The only time these two sides met in 2025 was a 3-0 loss at Dodge Stadium to close out the season. The first home match of 2026 is a chance to settle that score in front of the home supporters right out of the gate.

June: The Heart of the Season

June is the busiest stretch of the campaign, with six matches packed into the month: three at home and three on the road.

The club heads south on June 3 to Irvine Valley College to face Capo FC. Capo finished 3rd in the Southwest last season with a 7-3-2 record and a goal difference of +17. Redlands drew with them 2-2 at home in 2025, and the away fixture will be one of the tougher tests on the schedule.

Two days later, on June 5, Redlands FC returns to Dodge Stadium to host AMSG FC, a side Redlands drew 2-2 with on the road in June last year. A home win here would be a statement.

On June 10, the club travels to Ventura to face Ventura County Fusion, the Southwest Division champions in 2025. The Fusion won the division convincingly, finishing with 28 points and a goal difference of +22. Redlands drew with them at home and lost 3-2 on the road last season. Getting a result in Ventura in 2026 would be a significant step forward.

The road swing continues on June 17 at Whittier College, where Redlands FC faces Southern California Eagles. Redlands won that exact fixture 3-2 in 2025 and then followed it up with a dominant 7-0 victory at Dodge Stadium. The Eagles finished 7th in the Southwest last year with just 8 points, so this is a fixture Redlands will expect to win.

Three days later on June 20, Redlands FC hosts the rematch at Dodge Stadium. It's a quick turnaround, but based on last season's form against this opponent, it's also an opportunity to bank six points across the double-header.

June closes on June 27 with a home match against Stars FC, giving Redlands the chance to continue where they left off against a side they dominated in 2025.

July: Closing Strong

July brings three final matches to close out the regular season, with Redlands FC holding home advantage in two of them.

Capo FC visits Dodge Stadium on July 2 for the rematch of their earlier June meeting. Given how competitive their lone 2025 encounter was, this one figures to be tight. The club then makes its only road trip of the month on July 5, traveling to La Costa Canyon to face City SC and completing the home-and-away series with the San Diego club. After losing to City SC in 2025, a result on the road would be a strong signal of just how far this squad has come.

The 2026 season closes at home on July 11 against Ventura County Fusion, the defending Southwest Division champions. If the playoff picture is still unsettled heading into the final weekend, this match could decide everything. It's a fitting end to the calendar and the kind of game Redlands FC has been building toward since the beginning.

2026 ROSTER

Players to Watch

Jose De La Torre | Midfielder

Jose De La Torre is a name Redlands FC supporters should already know. Born and raised in Moreno Valley and a product of Citrus Hill High School in Perris. De La Torre spent his freshman year at Cal State Fullerton before joining Redlands FC, and 2026 is his second season with the club. His sophomore year at Fullerton in 2025 was the kind of campaign that turns heads: he appeared in all 20 games with 18 starts, recorded 15 points on four goals and seven assists, led the entire Big West Conference in assists, and was named Big West Midfielder of the Year. He returns to Dodge Stadium in 2026 as one of the most decorated players on the roster and someone who has already proven he can perform at a high level.

Jonah Kawamura | Midfielder

Jonah Kawamura arrives at Redlands FC carrying serious credentials. The Honolulu native was the 2021 Hawaii Gatorade Player of the Year before going on to play at the University of Washington and then UC San Diego, where he captained the Tritons and led the team in minutes played across multiple seasons. He has since transferred to San Diego State for his senior year but missed the entire 2025 season due to injury. He comes to Dodge Stadium healthy and motivated, with plenty left to prove. A previous stint with FC Tucson in USL League Two makes the season opener on May 23 at Kino North Stadium a particularly compelling one. Kawamura is a composed, high-minute

midfielder who has played at this level and knows what it takes to compete in the Southwest Division.

Efren Nunez Dominguez | Forward

If you want to talk about local talent making good, start with Efren Nunez Dominguez. A Fontana native who attended Los Osos High School in Rancho Cucamonga, Nunez spent the 2024-25 season at Cal State San Marcos and put together one of the standout individual campaigns in CCAA soccer. He tied the program's single-season records for goals (10) and points (26), earned D2CCA All-West Region honors, and was named to the All-CCAA first team. He is a forward with creativity, finishing ability, and the kind of pedigree that makes him one of the most exciting additions to the Redlands FC squad heading into 2026.

Philip Naef | Midfielder

Philip Naef is the kind of player who makes everyone around him better. A Swiss international youth player who won a U-17 Championship with F.C. Copenhagen and a national title with BSC Young Boys, Naef completed his college career at UCLA where he became one of the most productive midfielders in the program's recent history. He recorded double-digit assists in back-to-back seasons, led the Bruins with 11 assists in 2025, and twice tied the UCLA program record for assists in a single game with four. He helped the Bruins win the 2025 Big Ten Tournament title before turning his attention to the next step. Naef brings international pedigree and elite-level college production to Dodge Stadium, and he may well be the most technically accomplished player in the Southwest Division this summer.

Matti Richter | Defender

Matti Richter brings a background that stands out on any USL League Two roster. A product of the German football system, Richter played in the U19 Bundesliga and the Men's Regionalliga before representing the Berlin Selection Team, all before making the move to the United States to continue his career at UC Riverside. The Regionalliga is the fourth tier of German football and a genuinely competitive environment, so the experience Richter carries into 2026 is not typical of a pre-professional roster. In his 2025 college season he made 14 starts across 15 matches. He is a defender who has been shaped by one of the most demanding footballing cultures in the world, and that is exactly the kind of presence Redlands FC wants anchoring the back line this summer.
