Residents are encouraged to sign up for alerts to receive critical updates during wildfires, floods, evacuations, and other public safety emergencies.
REDLANDS, Calif. — The city of Redlands will conduct a test of its Emergency Notification Alert System on Monday, June 16, to ensure the system is functioning properly and to help residents become familiar with how emergency alerts are delivered.
The system, powered by RAVE Mobile Safety, is designed to quickly distribute critical information during emergencies such as wildfires, floods, hazardous materials incidents, evacuations and other public safety threats.
No action is required during the test. However, city officials are encouraging residents to register in advance to receive alerts. Cell phones and landlines are not automatically enrolled in the system.
To receive emergency notifications, residents must manually sign up at Smart911.com and provide their phone number and email address.
Once registered, users can opt-in to receive alerts by clicking on "Edit Alerts" in the top left side of the screen.
An option to select how to receive alerts—via voice calls, text messages and/or emails is also available.
Multiple contact methods can be added.
Additional information and updates are available on the city’s Facebook page at facebook.com/cityofredlands or on the city website at www.cityofredlands.org.
