Nearly 200 residents gathered for the inaugural Heritage Club Fair, where historic organizations dating back more than a century shared their missions, recruited new members, and highlighted the role of community clubs in Redlands’ past and future.
REDLANDS, Calif. — How residents can help build a cleaner, low-carbon transportation future will be the focus of Accelerate Neighborhood Climate Action’s monthly Resilient Living program on Wednesday, Oct. 15, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Flores Senior Center on Lugonia Avenue.
Why it matters: In July, the city adopted its Climate Action Plan 2050, a roadmap to cut local greenhouse gas emissions from 7.1 metric tons per capita to 1 metric ton by 2050. With nearly two-thirds of Redlands’ emissions coming from transportation, cleaner mobility has become a top priority.
The plan outlines 19 transportation strategies, including expanding EV charging, promoting transit and carpools for work and school, improving sidewalks and bike lanes, and supporting mixed-use development to reduce long commutes.
Event details: At the Oct. 15 event, a panel of experts from the city of Redlands, South Coast AQMD and Omnitrans will share current plans, programs and incentives to help residents shift to cleaner travel. A local electric vehicle dealer will discuss EV benefits, costs and charging options.
The program is co-sponsored by the city of Redlands and is free and open to the public. The evening includes audience Q&A, small-group discussion, a raffle and refreshments.
