REDLANDS, Calif. — The city of Redlands will host its ninth annual Juneteenth Celebration on Saturday, June 20, at Sylvan Park.

The free event will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the park, located at 601 N. University St., and will feature live music, entertainment, games, cultural activities and family-friendly experiences.

Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in the United States and celebrates African American history, culture and achievements.

Organizers describe the celebration as a community gathering focused on culture, heritage, history and connection. Food trucks will be onsite throughout the event, with food available for purchase.

A featured attraction will be the FamilySearch experience presented by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The interactive exhibit will allow attendees to explore family history, discover ancestral connections and learn about historical records, including Freedmen's Bureau documents that can help trace family histories following the Civil War.

The city is continuing to accept vendor applications for the event. Additional information about participating as a vendor or attending the celebration is available at Redlands Juneteenth Celebration.

The Juneteenth Celebration is organized through the city of Redlands Recreation Division.
