Chamber music series features Redlands Symphony musicians in three Sunday afternoon concerts downtown
REDLANDS, Calif. — The Redlands Symphony will open its third season of the Redlands Recital Series on Jan. 25, bringing chamber music performances by orchestra musicians to a downtown venue.
The series begins at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 25, at the First Presbyterian Church of Redlands and features RSO Principal Clarinetist Kathryn Nevin, joined by Principal Viola Kira Blumberg and pianist Lara Urrutia. The program includes works by Paquito D’Rivera, Rebecca Clarke, Max Bruch and Kenji Bunch, written for the uncommon combination of clarinet, viola and piano.
Now in its third year, the Redlands Recital Series highlights individual RSO musicians in shorter, intimate performances outside the orchestra’s main concert setting. The series is sponsored by Jerry and Marilyn Bean, with additional support from Dr. Karen Hansberger.
The second recital will take place at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, featuring RSO Principal Cellist Aristides Rivas with violinist Egle Jarkova and pianist Lara Urrutia. The program includes Rachmaninoff’s Trio élégiaque, Piazzolla’s Oblivion and Mendelssohn’s Piano Trio No. 1.
The series concludes at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 22, with a bassoon-focused program led by RSO Bassoonist Jon Stehney. Stehney will be joined by other area bassoonists for an afternoon of trio and quartet music, with additional surprises planned.
All recitals will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Redlands.
Tickets are $25 for adults and free for students with a valid student ID. Tickets may be purchased online at RedlandsSymphony.com/tickets, by phone at 909-587-5565, or at the door beginning at 1:30 p.m. on the day of each performance.
