Redlands seeks applicants for three city commission seats
Openings are available on the Human Relations, Cultural Arts and Municipal Utilities/Public Works commissions, with application deadlines beginning Sept. 29.
REDLANDS, Calif. — Redlands residents have opportunities to serve on three city commissions, with application deadlines approaching for seats focused on human relations, cultural arts and public works.
The earliest deadline is Tuesday, Sept. 29, for a seat on the Human Relations Commission. That opening is limited to residents of City Council District 4.
The commission advises the City Council on human relations and works to promote goodwill and better relations among people of different races and national origins. It consists of seven members, including five representing individual City Council districts and two student members.
The commission meets quarterly at 6:30 p.m. on the second Monday of March, June, September and December.
Applications for a seat on the Cultural Arts Commission are due Friday, Oct. 2.
The commission promotes public interest in the arts, recommends arts programs and potential funding sources and advises the City Council on policies supporting arts and culture. It also advises the council on the city's Art in Public Places program.
The Cultural Arts Commission meets quarterly at 4 p.m. on the second Monday of March, June, September and December.
The city is also accepting applications for a seat on the Municipal Utilities/Public Works Commission, with a deadline of Monday, Oct. 5.
The commission advises the City Council, city manager and city staff on public works projects and facilities and provides a channel for residents to offer input and expertise on their management and operation.
The Municipal Utilities/Public Works Commission meets quarterly at 4 p.m. on the first Monday of January, April, July and October.
All three positions are unpaid. Members of the Cultural Arts and Municipal Utilities/Public Works commissions are appointed by the City Council.
