REDLANDS, Calif. — Redlands police responded to multiple burglaries, weapon-related arrests, pursuits and attempted robberies during the week of Nov. 20–26, according to a weekly update from the department.

Burglary investigations

Police are investigating several residential burglaries reported between Nov. 20 and Nov. 25. Two were reported Thursday, Nov. 20, in the 1600 block of Camelot Drive and the 1400 block of Clifton Avenue. Another burglary was reported Monday, Nov. 24, in the 200 block of Eastpark Lane.

On Tuesday evening, Nov. 25, a resident returned from vacation to find her rear glass door shattered and her home in the 400 block of Via Vista Drive ransacked. Police said jewelry and a firearm were among the items stolen.

Police arrested a man Tuesday, Nov. 25, after he allegedly slashed the tires on a construction worker’s vehicle in the 1100 block of Orange Street and chased the worker with a knife. The man secluded himself in a garage before surrendering to officers following negotiations.

An 18-year-old San Bernardino man was arrested Sunday night, Nov. 23, after he allegedly brandished a firearm and demanded a 15-year-old boy’s shoes near the Burlington store in Citrus Plaza. The suspect ran toward the Harkins Theater, where officers located him. Police said he fought with officers as several bystanders attempted to interfere before he was taken into custody.

Attempted robbery investigations

Police are investigating an attempted robbery reported Sunday night, Nov. 23, in the 500 block of Redlands Boulevard. A 14-year-old boy told officers he was confronted by several juveniles armed with a handgun and bats who demanded his bicycle. One suspect assaulted him during the struggle before the group left without the bike.

Officers also responded to a report of a possible carjacking Sunday afternoon, Nov. 23, at Pine Avenue and New York Street. The victim said he was detailing a client’s vehicle when two men approached and one pointed a gun before driving away in the car. Police later determined the driver was the registered owner. Detectives identified and located the two additional suspects, and all three were arrested. The investigation is ongoing.

Pursuits and evasion cases

RPD assisted a neighboring agency after a vehicle pursuit ended in Redlands around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25. Police said the suspect drove at high speed into a dead end at the west end of Lugonia Avenue, launching into a fence near the Metrolink tracks. The driver fled on foot and was taken into custody with assistance from Redlands officers.

In a separate incident, a man was arrested on multiple charges — including assault with a deadly weapon, hit-and-run, reckless evasion and resisting arrest — following an early-morning pursuit Monday, Nov. 24. Officers had been checking on a man passed out in a running vehicle at Central Avenue and Kaye Court around 2 a.m. When he woke up, he accelerated, hit a parked car and fled. The pursuit ended at a dead end on East Citrus Avenue, where police said the suspect repeatedly rammed a patrol car while trying to escape. He continued to struggle with officers during his arrest and was found to be DUI.

Commercial break-in

Police arrested a man Thursday morning, Nov. 20, after an employee at the Family Service Association facility at 612 Lawton Street found two large windows and a glass door shattered. Officers found the man asleep on a couch inside. Damage was estimated at more than $5,000.
