REDLANDS, Calif. — Redlands police are investigating a violent assault after a delivery driver reported hearing a woman screaming behind a local car dealership early Wednesday morning, July 16.

The driver, who was making a delivery near Toyota of Redlands, told police he shined a flashlight toward the noise and saw a man striking a woman. The suspect fled east behind the nearby bowling alley before officers arrived.

According to police, the woman told officers that the man — who is the father of her child — beat her with a bottle until it shattered, then stabbed her in the head and neck. After giving a brief statement, the woman declined further cooperation with police and refused medical attention. The investigation is ongoing, and the suspect has not been located.
